Rod’s is on set shooting our 2012 show clothing collection, and we are excited to team up with Miss Rodeo America. This year, Rod’s has McKenzie Haley, the reigning 2011 Miss Rodeo America with us modeling some of our show clothing. McKenzie was able to take some time out of the busy schedule to sit down and talk to us about her time as Miss Rodeo America, and what her future holds.
What does it take to become Miss Rodeo America?
You have to start out as a state queen. Then you travel and compete during the NFR.
How do you spend your time as Miss Rodeo America?
I travel a lot. When a rodeo is in town I go to the high school and speak, do signings, as well as other PR and advertising for the rodeo.
What is the best part of being Miss Rodeo America?
Meeting people; I love to meet and talk to new people.
What is the worst part of being Miss Rodeo America?
Packing to fly! I am an over-packer and it is hard to make sure you have everything you need and fit it into a 50 lb. bag. I have a system so I do pretty well now; it was difficult at first though.
What’s next for you?
Next, I am going back to school at the University of South Dakota. I want to study speech and language pathology.
Throughout the years, Rod’s boot buyers have brought the latest trends in fashion to footwear. Rod’s buyers travel the country, studying trends and looking for the newest hides and innovative designs. Rod’s headed to Texas and teamed up with the designers and fine craftsmen from Lucchese and Tony Lama boot companies to build handmade boots designed exclusively for our customers. We used exotic hides such as stingray, ostrich, crocodile and lizard to create the most beautiful combination of fashion and functionality that Rod’s has ever offered. Our exclusive styles feature a variety of different soles, toes and heels to meet our customers’ desires.
